FAQs
What is reiki 4 recovery?
People generally seek help for many reasons and improvement can come to them in many different ways during a session. It is common for a person to seek out therapy because they are trapped in repetitive, painful patterns that block or impede the recovery process. Some individuals may not respond to talk therapy alone. By combining traditional counseling strategies with reiki, the whole person is addressed by allowing the body, mind, and emotions to work together. Reiki 4 Recovery blends the best of both worlds to acheive or enhance recovery.
What is reiki?
Reiki is a healing energy treatment that was experienced, provided and taught in the early 1900's in Japan by Dr. Mikao Usui. Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese word representing universal life energy, the energy which is all around us. The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words: Rei andki, meaning universal life energy. The universal energy aids healing on any level that is needed by that individual. If a person’s life force energy is disrupted, blocked or low, then that person is more likely to not feel well; if it is flowing undisrupted, that person is more able to experience wellbeing and health.
Reiki practitioners channel energy in a particular pattern to heal and harmonize. Reiki seeks to restore order to the body whose vital energy has become unbalanced due to physical, emotional or spiritual challenges. Reiki can be used for relaxation, relieving tension, stress and pain, boosting energy levels, self esteem and confidence. By complimenting and enhancing other counseling strategies and conventional medicine, reiki positively improving quality of life and many illnesses or injuries. Reiki works on all levels: the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Through reiki, emotional and mental blockages can be released and deeper causes of disharmony, depression and unhappiness are often brought to the surface, allowing in-depth healing to take place. Suppressed emotions, anger, abuse issues, fears, and phobias all respond well to reiki.
On a physical level Reiki can also reduce muscle pain, headaches, backache, toothache, arthritic pain and can help to ease the withdrawal pain from alcohol and drug abuse.
What to expect?
Although each person and session is unique, each session follows a similar structure. Our first therapy session, or consultation, will last 50 minutes. After completing a short, basic form where you will provide your name and contact information we will then discuss the events that led you to seek therapy.
Throughout our discussion, I will ask you a variety of questions that will help me to know more about you and what you are wanting to explore in therapy. Through this discussion, I will share some initial observations and thoughts about the potential for self-discovery and healing. Before the hour ends, we will discuss an initial treatment plan for our future therapy sessions that may include counseling, reiki or a combination of both. I will then briefly discuss my office policies, cancellation policies and the fees. If reiki is suggested for you - comfortable clothes should be worn as these sessions occur on a massage table or sitting in a comfortable chair.
Length of TherapyEach person’s length of time in therapy is different. Some people work on issues for a shorter period of time and cease coming, and others find that one circumstance uncovers another situation and choose to do deeper and longer work. There is no one right answer.
